Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, responding to journalists’ questions about the reactions following the NATO leaders’ summit held in Ankara, said:

“Actually, the reactions were very, very positive. We constantly received messages of thanks and phone calls. In particular, the reception and hospitality we provided on the opening day of the summit made a strong impression on our guests. Therefore, all the leaders, led by Donald Trump, were truly very impressed. They shared their feelings with us both during and after the dinner. Those who arrived with their spouses also expressed their happiness — both at the fashion show they attended together with my wife and during the dinner. We experienced this joy twice over, and therefore we are especially happy.”

Erdoğan noted that holding the NATO summit in Ankara was an important event for Türkiye.

“Of course, after 20 years, Istanbul and then the summit in Ankara — both of these events have become a special source of pride and a special reason for joy for us. Following the NATO leaders’ summit, I also consider it my duty to thank all our guests,” the Turkish president said.
