French President Emmanuel Macron has announced a ban on all demonstrations in the coming days, with the exception of rallies organized by trade unions.

According to Report, citing French media, the president made the announcement following a meeting with members of the Cabinet.

He said the government’s policy for the coming days, particularly October 24, would be to prohibit calls for gatherings by individuals “who have no legal grounds to do so.”

“We will ban them wherever possible. However, when trade unions submit such requests, they will be reviewed by prefects, but alternative measures will be proposed to protect our city centers, our businesses and our public buildings,” he added.
