Russian pipeline gas supplies to Turkey increased by 6.6% year-on-year in May 2026, reaching 1.27 billion cubic meters, according to data from Turkey’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK).

EPDK statistics show that Turkey’s total gas imports in May amounted to 3.64 billion cubic meters, up 3% compared with the same month last year. Russian gas accounted for 34.9% of the country’s total gas imports.

Azerbaijan ranked as the second-largest supplier, with a 28.4% share of Turkey’s gas imports. Deliveries of Azerbaijani gas declined by 2.2% to 1.03 billion cubic meters. Iran ranked third, supplying 26.1% of Turkey’s imported gas. Imports from Iran increased by 20.2% year-on-year to 951.25 million cubic meters. Turkey also imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States and Algeria during May.

In the first five months of 2026, Turkey increased its total gas imports by 3.7% to 27.63 billion cubic meters. Russian gas deliveries for the January–May period totaled 9.58 billion cubic meters, down 4.1% compared with the same period in 2025. Despite the decline, Russia remained Turkey’s largest gas supplier, with an average market share of 34.6% over the five-month period.

On July 7, at 19:51 Moscow time, the Krasnodarskaya compressor station, which is involved in supplying gas to Turkey via the Blue Stream pipeline, was targeted in a drone attack. Gazprom stated that the incident did not disrupt gas deliveries.

Since February 24, Gazprom’s facilities in southern Russia have reportedly been targeted in multiple drone attacks. According to the company, these facilities are part of the country’s critical energy infrastructure and ensure the reliability of gas exports through the TurkStream and Blue Stream pipelines. In March 2026, Russia’s Ministry of Defense reported simultaneous attacks on the Russkaya, Beregovaya, and Kazachya compressor stations.
