Forest fires in Turkey approach resort areas

Turkey has been hit by forest fires. In Fethiye, flames spread rapidly amid abnormal heat and drought, which significantly complicated the work of firefighters. Rescue teams in the affected areas are doing everything possible to contain the spread of the fire and protect residential areas and resort zones, the Telegram channel “MIR24” reported.
The fires are raging simultaneously in several provinces: Antalya, Muğla, and Afyonkarahisar. In the Çamlıca area of Kepez district in Antalya, firefighting efforts are being carried out both from the ground and from the air: helicopters, firefighting aircraft, special equipment, and emergency response teams have been deployed. Due to the threat of the flames reaching residential neighborhoods, authorities are evacuating people from homes located in danger zones.
Earlier, the disaster caused damage to resort areas along the Aegean coast. In the village of Bozüyük, the fire had been approaching tourist infrastructure for several days. In place of dense pine forests, there is now scorched land, while a multi-kilometer trail of thick black smoke hangs over the area.
In the Bodrum and Didim districts, the fire destroyed 850 hectares of forest. A total of 1,120 people had to be evacuated from the risk zone. Tourists were advised to remain vigilant and strictly follow the instructions of rescue services.
The situation is also alarming in other countries. Tens of thousands of hectares of forest have burned in Spain. Fires continue to rage in France as well.
