French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu said on Monday he had asked local authorities to \u200bimpose partial curfews this evening following violent protests across the nation \u200cduring the weekend \u2013 Reuters reports.<\/p>\n
Lecornu told reporters he was “fully resolved to restoring public order” and that if declaring a state \u200bof emergency was deemed necessary “we could do so”, \u200bbut added that at this stage partial \u2060curfews seemed “more appropriate”.<\/p>\n
He did not say which cities \u200bwould impose partial curfews nor what form they would \u200btake, although he excluded imposing a full curfew on the whole of Paris.<\/p>\n
“These curfews must be local and partial. \u200bIt is out of the question to put \u200ball of Paris under curfew.”<\/p>\n
Interior Minister Laurent Nunez also told reporters \u200cduring \u2060the same press conference there were no plans to cancel Tuesday evening’s Paris Saint Germain versus Barcelona soccer match.<\/p>\n
The mayors of France’s biggest cities on \u200bMonday demanded answers \u200bfrom the \u2060government to what they called a lack of preparation by security forces as \u200bthe country licked its wounds from \u200ba weekend \u2060of rioting and looting.<\/p>\n
