{"id":7807,"date":"2026-09-28T18:12:57","date_gmt":"2026-09-28T18:12:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mpc.ge\/?p=7807"},"modified":"2026-09-28T18:12:57","modified_gmt":"2026-09-28T18:12:57","slug":"azerbaijan-and-iran-discuss-prospects-for-implementing-joint-infrastructure-projects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/mpc.ge\/en\/azerbaijan-and-iran-discuss-prospects-for-implementing-joint-infrastructure-projects\/","title":{"rendered":"Azerbaijan and Iran discuss prospects for implementing joint infrastructure projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>A meeting of the co-chairs of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation between the two countries was held as part of the visit of an Azerbaijani delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev to Iran.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Cabinet of Ministers, the meeting discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in the trade and economic, transport and communications, and humanitarian spheres, as well as other issues of mutual interest, Report said.<\/p>\n<p>The sides reviewed the implementation of agreements reached following the 17th meeting of the State Commission, held in Baku in February 2026, as well as the implementation of measures envisaged by the Memorandum of Understanding.<\/p>\n<p>The Deputy Prime Minister noted that active political dialogue and friendly relations between the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Iran, Ilham Aliyev and Masoud Pezeshkian, have given significant impetus to the development of bilateral ties. The meeting between the leaders held in Bishkek was particularly highlighted.<\/p>\n<p>Assessing the work carried out within the framework of cooperation, Shahin Mustafayev emphasized the importance of accelerating the implementation of agreed projects and continuing coordinated activities between the relevant institutions.<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, one of the main topics of discussion was the development of the International North\u2013South Transport Corridor, as well as increasing its capacity.<\/p>\n<p>The completion of the construction of the Agband\u2013Kelale road bridge was welcomed, and issues related to commissioning the border infrastructure were discussed.<\/p>\n<p>Measures being taken in connection with the completion of work at the cargo terminal in Astara and the expansion of its capacity were also considered.<\/p>\n<p>The sides exchanged views on the prospects for implementing joint infrastructure projects.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting resulted in an agreement to continue developing mutually beneficial cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran and to consistently implement the agreed projects and initiatives.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A meeting of the co-chairs of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation between the two countries was held as part of the visit of an Azerbaijani delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev to Iran.
